Legionella Pneumophila is a bacterium present in natural aquatic environments and can nest in pipes, accumulations and water distribution systems in general. Its uncontrolled proliferation can generate even deadly epidemics, particularly in vulnerable subjects (elderly, immunosuppressed, sick people in general).

Legislative Decree no. 81/08 requires the evaluation of biological risk in the workplace and identifies the employer or the owner of the structure as the civil and criminal person responsible in the event of an event harmful to the health of workers or users.

Hotels, hospital facilities, condominiums, spas and all facilities with medium and large sized plumbing systems are therefore obliged to foresee the Legionella risk as there is storage of domestic water at medium temperatures.
